Moving day checklist India

The big day is finally here! After weeks of sorting, packing, and dealing with paperwork, moving day in India can feel like a high-stakes obstacle course. Between navigating apartment gate security, directing the packing crew, and dealing with local traffic, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

To help you glide through the chaos, here is your ultimate, no-nonsense moving day checklist:

Morning Kickoff & Supervision Fuel Up: Order a hearty breakfast or chai for your family and the moving crew. Keeping everyone energized sets a positive tone.

Final Walkthrough: Before the truck pulls away from your old home, inspect every room, balcony, and bathroom. Check behind doors and inside built-in wardrobes so nothing gets left behind.

Utility Readings: Take final photographs of your electricity and gas meters to cross-check with your final bills.

In Transit & Society Protocols Reach the New Home First: Beat the moving truck to your new destination. You’ll need to unlock the doors, secure elevator access, and guide the crew on where to place heavy furniture.

Gate Pass & RWA Rules: Keep your society move-in permit handy for the security guards so the truck isn't stalled at the gate.

Unpacking & Settling In Open the "Essentials" Box First: Unpack your chargers, toiletries, basic medications, and change of clothes immediately.

Quick Clean: Do a quick surface wipe of kitchen counters and bathroom fixtures before boxes are stacked.

Tip and Thank: Appreciate the moving crew with a fair tip and cold refreshments for their hard work.
