How to pack fragile items for moving?

Handle With Care: The Ultimate Guide to Packing Fragile Items
Packing up your home is stressful enough, but the moment you pick up a delicate wine glass or an heirloom porcelain plate, panic usually sets in. How do you make sure your cherished belongings survive the bumpy ride to your new home?Packing fragile items doesn't have to be a nightmare. With the right technique and a little patience, you can protect your breakables like a professional mover.
Here is how to pack your fragile items safely:
1. Gather the Right Supplies Don’t skimp on materials. You will need sturdy double-walled moving boxes, plenty of bubble wrap, packing paper (avoid using newspaper as the ink can stain), and heavy-duty packing tape.
2. Cushion the Box Always create a shock-absorbing foundation. Line the bottom of your moving box with a thick layer of crumpled packing paper or bubble wrap. This cushions against vertical drops and road vibrations.
3. Wrap Items Individually Glassware & Mugs: Place packing paper inside cups, then wrap them tightly from corner to corner, tucking in the edges.
Plates & Bowls: Never pack plates flat. Wrap them individually in multiple layers of paper and pack them vertically (like records in a crate). Plates can handle much more pressure on their edges than flat in a stack!
Delicate Ornaments: Bubble wrap is your best friend here. Tape it securely around odd-shaped items before placing them snugly in smaller boxes.
4. Pack Tightly & Label Clearly Fill any empty gaps in the box with crumpled paper or packing peanuts so items can't shift during transit. Seal the box securely and label it clearly on multiple sides with "FRAGILE: HANDLE WITH CARE" and indicate the top side with arrows.
